Club Helps Students Understand Government

The Youth and Government club provides an opportunity for students to practice their political views in real applications. The club includes the legislative and judicial branches of the government, state affair, model UN and the media. All branches give students exposure to the different government functions.

“A great amount of students don’t know what happens in our country aside from what the media puts out and tweets from the president,” Youth and Government President junior Kaley McFeron said. “Youth and Government helps students to be involved in current events.”

The club provides the opportunity to students to become more aware about social issues, from the government system to how court systems work.

“It’s useful for everyone,” junior Samirah Sarwat said.“Model UN [and] comparative government helps students understand our government better.”

Youth and Government meetings are every Monday and Thursday. Debate teacher and club sponsor Susan Troutte is still accepting students for Model UN.
