Senior Picnic Relieves Student Stress

As the school year is coming to an end, the seniors are eagerly awaiting graduation and they are enjoying the festivities along the way.

“I’m gonna miss my friends, but I’m glad I get to have fun with them now,” senior Summer Johnson said.

The latest rendezvous was Saturday, May 12 at the Double D Ranch in Mesquite. The senior picnic was a relaxing event for seniors to let loose and be kids again. The venue included paddle boats, hay rides, blow-up obstacle courses, and more. The food was a classic Texan meal: barbecue and cobbler.

“That was the first time I’ve had brisket, and it was really good,” senior Alexis Rodriguez said. “It was definitely a cool experience. Plus we got to play bingo, which I also had never done before.”

After lunch, the seniors got to sit down for a friendly game of bingo, prizes included gift cards and Class of 2018 water bottles.

“I haven’t played bingo since I was little, so it really brought back good memories,” senior Summer Johnson said.

With graduation quickly approaching, this was a good way for students to enjoy their last weeks with their class.
