CIA Brings Hope On Mission Trip

On February 10, the Christ in Action (CIA) organization went on a mission trip to a temporary shelter in Kaufman to spread gospel to the kids who live there.

The shelter that they ministered in, Kaufman Children’s Center, houses kids whose parents have been put in jail because of drug related crimes.

“These kids have been put there because their parents are in jail for drug related issues,” CIA club sponsor Heather Hillebrenner said. “These kids need hope in their lives.”

While at the orphanage, there were a variety of arts and crafts activities such as balloon animals, face paint, cooking, and slime. All these activities incorporated a bible message within them.

“We [had] lots of activities for these kids to do,” youth pastor Jeremy Cooper said.

CIA wants to show these kids love and support while their going through very difficult times.

“We want to show love to those who haven’t had it in their life,” junior Oscar Moreno said.

More than anything, CIA wants to change the lives of these kids and provide them with relief and hope.

“We’re giving these kids something to grab onto while their dealing with everything that they’re going through,” Hillebrenner said.
