Homecoming Spirit Week

Homecoming spirit week is an exciting time for students and teachers and a way for students to show off their school spirit by dressing up in bizarre outfits and costumes.

Along with dressing up in bizarre outfits, the school held a hallway decorating contest among the classes.

“I do enjoy dressing up for spirit week, but we all know the best part is the hallway contest,” sophomore Mayra Castillo said. “We’re bound to win, I mean we’ve got the most classic theme.”

The sophomore class officers chose this year’s hallway theme of “A Night Under the Stars.”

“We all just kinda put our heads together and brainstormed ideas,” sophomore class president Angie Garcia said. “One of us said ‘choose the idea’ and we all just agreed with it.”

Sophomores volunteered to stay after school, and even come to school during the weekend to help decorate the hall.

“I came up here this weekend to lend a hand with the decorations, you have to have school spirit,” sophomore Hazel Velasquez said. “I’d say we did a pretty good job.”

The Class of 2020 were pleased with the decorations that were displayed on their hallway.

“I really liked the moon with all the stars on it,” sophomore Kailey Stephens said.

Although much work and effort went into designing the sophomore hallway, the sophomores did not end up winning the hallway completion.

“I’m kinda bummed out that we didn’t win,” sophomore Saul Castillo. “The juniors were just better, [and] there’s always next year though.”
