I Dare You to See “Truth or Dare”

We’re four months into 2018, and yet another horror film has been released. My friend and I went to go see “Insidious: The Last Key” back in January. As we were sitting there through the ten minute long previews of movies, we saw the trailer to “Truth or Dare.” I snuck out my phone, went to my calendar, and marked April 13. I was excited for the horror film that was soon to be released. Come April 13, I was disappointed.

A group of college friends go on a trip to Mexico, and on their last night in Mexico they follow Carter (Landon Liboiron) to an abandoned church to play a game of “Truth or Dare.” It was Carter’s turn, and he told Olivia (Lucy Hale) that he brought her and her friends to the church to pass on the cursed game, and then runs away. Days later they find out that Carter was right, and slowly all of her friends die – for either not doing the dare or not telling the truth.

The movie would have been better if you weren’t able to predict what was going to happen next. It was a typical modern horror film, and was absolute trash. According to Rotten Tomatoes, only 20 percent of the movies’ audience liked it, and I don’t blame them.

All in all, I’d give it a three on a scale of one to ten. If you’re going to spend your money on a movie, “Truth or Dare” is definitely not it, if I must tell the truth.
