Old School Horror with a Twist

“The Strangers: Prey at Night” is the sequel of the original, “The Strangers” that was released in 2008. Ten years later, writer Bryan Bertino revamped the slasher horror film.

The film follows a family staying in a vacant trailer park, and being stalked and attacked by three masked killers: the Man in the Mask, Dollface, and Pin Up Girl. The movie features elements of classic 80’s horror movies with a millenial twist.

The first half of the film starts out pretty slow and boring, but once the action starts you can’t look away from the screen. Characters you didn’t expect to die do, and it was pretty gory (so if you don’t like seeing that, this movie isn’t for you).

The characters who did survive had to put up a really good fight against the strangers. There were moments that were so intense, and you just knew there was no way they could escape; the strangers were always one step ahead of them. However, the main characters found a way and fought tooth and nail for their lives.

I recommend seeing this film in a drive-in movie theatre like I did, so you can really get that old-school horror movie feel. I won’t lie, I looked over my shoulder a few times to see if Dollface or the Man in the Mask were standing outside my car waiting to get me. I recommend this movie to anyone wanting to see something creepy with a whole lot of action.
