Johnny Depp Assault Case

Johnny Depp has been named one of the most notorious film stars as described by Variety magazine. He is best known for portraying Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. But he has been receiving attention from the press ever since his now ex-wife, Amber Heard, has filed accusations of domestic abuse against Depp.

Heard has stated that the abuse first occurred back in 2013, which has led to a total of 14 alleged assaults – 12 of  which Depp has been acquitted for.

Many of his co-stars and friends have been coming to his aid over his libel case with Britain’s The Sun newspaper, who claimed Depp was an abusive husband. Depp’s ex girlfriend, Winona Ryder (known for starring in Stranger Things), has stated that she was surprised when she first heard the accusations against him.

Early this month, Depp lost a suit filed against the newspaper company, suing The Sun’s executive editor over the allegations. The UK’s Court ruled in favor with the editor, who presented evidence of photos, audio recordings, and text messages from Depp.

Over the loss of his libel case, Warner Bros had asked Depp to resign from his role as villain Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Depp’s fans have since launched a petition in order to have him reinstated in the franchise. Fans have also warned Warner Bros that they will boycott the next film if Depp doesn’t reprise his role.
