Winter Guard Places Fourth in Competition
At Martin High School, Winter Guard performed the choreography that they had been learning for weeks in preparation for the competition. Senior Adrianna Olvera believes they were successful at getting the crowd into their performance.
“I thought we did a great job,” Olvera said. “We were great at making the crowd happy.”
This was one of the few times where Winter Guard competed alone, rather than with Lakeview Centennial band. They believe they did well alone, due to weeks on weeks of preparation for the competition. Olvera said she couldn’t be anymore proud of her teammates.
“They worked really hard,” Olvera said. “The outcome was great too.”
With Winter Guard’s diligent preparations and choreography, they placed in the top five of the contest. Although Winter Guard placed fourth, Olvera believes they still placed in a great position, and so does Band Director Christopher Lloyd.
“I’m pleased with their performance,” Lloyd said. “While there is always room for improvement, we placed greater emphasis on the process than the we did the result.”
I'm a junior at Lakeview Centennial High school and this is my first year on the newspaper and yearbook staff.
