Freedom Choir came together in the auditorium to set the stage for the Freedom Show, where they sang coming-of-age pop songs. For some, it was the beginning of a new chapter, while for others, it marked the end of a special journey.
“I felt like it was kind of bittersweet because it was my last show,” senior Sariah Cox said. “But I felt really good after, and I felt really good during. I may have been a little stressed, but it felt fine.”
While preparing for the show, Freedom felt a variety of emotions. Some felt extremely anxious, while others were thrilled and eager to show their talents. Despite the performance anxiety, everyone still pushed through and prepared in their own way.
“We normally rehearsed separately with the girls and boys group,” sophomore Elijah Steinberg said. “But then for our joint songs, we were all able to come together and make something really cool.”
The students in Freedom had a wonderful time collaborating while working on the show. Although they faced some setbacks, they enjoyed the process of working together and had a lot of fun while creating something amazing.
“We had our little sections where we knew where to get ready,” senior Bryan Figueroa said. “We were ready to rehearse, ready to go. We cracked our jokes. We made our little fun things. But really, it just motivated us to go forward.”
Finally, it was time to turn off the lights for the show’s finale. Both performers and audience members had an excellent time at the Freedom Show. Freedom bowed and bid their farewells as the night came to a close, but for some performers, this year in Freedom wasn’t long enough.
“Don’t join things last minute because you will regret it so badly,” Figueroa said. “I joined both musical theater and Freedom this year. I love them both. I wish I knew about them sooner because I loved every second.”
