Friday Neon Lights
Pep rallies are a great way to show school spirit and support the sports teams. However, the Neon Pep Rally was a great way for high school students to get loose and have fun without having to represent the school.
“I really do believe that the students had an awesome time at the pep rally,” senior Joy Lewis said. “There were very few people who were sitting down and that’s always a good sign.”
At around 8:45 p.m., the police came and had to shut down the pep rally because of noise complaints from the neighbors. Although the pep rally was cut short, the students who went still had a great time.
“I personally think that the people who live in that neighborhood could have been a bit more understanding,” freshman Alex Aldana-Monitto said. “At least we were partying safely at school, with some adult supervision.”
The Neon Pep Rally helped pay for cheer banquet and DJs for other pep rallies. While the Neon Pep Rally was a great way to raise money, it also allowed students have a great time to express themselves with their peers.
“Often what I personally see homecoming is a time to dress and be formal, and that is awesome,” varsity cheerleader coach Wendy Jackson said. “There’s never a chance for y’all to just let loose, have fun, wild out a little bit, laugh, and enjoy each other.”
The Neon Pep Rally gave Lakeview students a chance to enjoy their time at school with their friends. Unlike other pep rallies, the Neon Pep Rally didn’t involve school spirit, which made it a time to forget about having to represent your school, and just have a good time.
