Why are the Lunch Lines so Freaking Long?
“Find a seat, you can’t stand around” says literally every teacher in the cafeteria monitoring us. I look around and all I see is long lines and an overflowing cafeteria with a bunch of hormonal teenagers.
Students are crammed together trying to get in line and shove food down their throats. Not to mention, there are 730 new freshman this year who fill up the cafeteria and the hallways.
“I think the lunch lines are chaotic at times but can move pretty quick,” substitute teacher Adam Zacharie Jr. said.
Although high school can be exciting for the incoming freshman, we still have to follow procedures. Some kids get to the lunch line, and because of it being so long, their time to eat is very limited.
“Sometimes I get there late and I have like five minutes to eat all my food,” junior Chelsea Umana said.
But what can authorities do to make sure all of students have enough time to eat?
“They should make other lunch lines so they can be shorter and faster,” Umana said. “So people can eat in a good amount of time.”
If there were more lines open for all the students, they’d get their food and be able to eat their food without having to choke up on it. It may take years to remodel the school’s cafeteria, but it would be worth the wait.
