Varsity Basketball vs Poteet
The Lakeview Centennial boys basketball team held a home game on November 11 to kick off their season. The boys played Mesquite Poteet and played excellently.
The Patriots started off hot hitting 6-for-6 3’s in the first quarter and kept the pressure on the whole game. Lakeview won by a score of 99-40.
“I was motivated because it’s senior year and I wanted to make a good run with my brothers one last time this season,” senior Kiore Smith said.
It took the whole team’s motivation to pull out a heck off a win. The Patriots shot outstanding from the free throw line on the night they made 17 out of 17 free throws and went 100 percent on the line.
“The reason we shot so well was because we practice it every day in practice. Perfection is repetition, so when game time comes it’s easy,” senior Demetri Davis said.
The Patriots probably didn’t expect to beat them by that many points.
“I didn’t expect to beat them by 59, but I did expect to win,” junior Nick Rene said. “Our hard work in practice translated to a great game.”
I'm a senior on the varsity basketball team. This is my first year on the newspaper staff.
