Playoff Spirit Week
Twenty one years ago, in 1995, we were in the playoffs and now in 2016 we have finally ace it again. In celebration, a spirit week was held with themes differing from Hoco week.
“I’m really glad we have this surprise spirit week,” senior Tahirih Mendy said. “I was starting to get really bored and this spiced up my week. And the themes goes ‘hawrd’.”
We finally had a character themed day that the students have been asking for forever. Most students took advantage of this theme and made the best of it.
“My outfit for character day was Justice from Poetic Justice,” senior DahJae Sadler said. “I chose her as my character because that’s one of my favorite movies.”
We also had a sports day where the students could express their favorite sports team whether it was baseball, football, basketball, or even soccer.
“I wore a Cavs t-shirt for sports day because they’re my favorite basketball team since LeBron James played on that team,” senior Ki’Ore Smith said.
We had a decade day that really had a lot of the students thinking of what to wear and which throwback outfits they liked the most. Students put outfits together that ranged from the 50s all the way to the 90s.
“I’m wearing a 90s trend,” senior Ja’Lecia Tribble said. “I actually like the way they dressed back then, it was so stylish to me.”
Finally at the end of the week is our pep rally and it’s all blue for spirit week. Students would have to wear a royal blue t-shirt to be able to get in.
I am a part of the Class of 2017. This is my first year on staff and I enjoy being in newspaper. I've also learned to be a better photographer and writer.
