Friday Night Lights

Friday’s varsity football game didn’t end the way the Patriots wanted it to, but they played hard against a skilled Waxahachie High School team and lost by a touchdown.

“I helped lead the team,” senior Shamond Greenwood said. “I scored twice in the game. I think I did my part as a senior. We’ll get them next time.”

Greenwood has verbally committed to the University of Oklahoma.

Some of the junior starters on varsity also helped out the team.

“Friday’s game didn’t end how we wanted it to,” junior Lamond Waters said, “but we played hard and I bet Waxahachie High School won’t forget Lakeview Centennial.”

There are also some younger players on the team that contributed to their success.

“It feels great being a sophomore on varsity but it also comes with a lot of responsibility,” sophomore Trejohn Caston said. “The biggest obstacle is others being bigger. I take hits like I’m a senior but it’s a part of my grind. By my senior year, I should be getting big time looks and offers if I keep playing well.”
