“Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone” Review
“Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone” is the first book in the series of seven in the Harry Potter wizarding world. The book starts off slow and has some exposition on the main character Harry, as it sets up many plot threads that will be explored further.
The plot is mainly Harry and friends surviving their school days at Hogwarts (a wizarding school). Near the final quarter of the book, the plot starts to pick up.
The plot is mostly uneventful, but the story is interesting. There is good world-building, and many interesting things are introduced. Among these things are “houses” within the school – which are one the most important plot elements of the first book.
The book just recently had its 20th anniversary. Over these years, many people have become fans of the book and its universe that it creates. The movies also led to many new fans coming in. This has led to the series being one of the most popular young adult novels ever.
The book is not bad, but it is not the best. All in all, the story is the start of the saga, and it will most likely get you to read the whole series.
