Ink Master Review
As I was on YouTube looking for future tattoo inspirations, I stumbled across clips from a show called “Ink Master.” After watching a few clips, I found the entire series online and binged watched about four out of the ten seasons over the weekend. Before watching the show, I didn’t know much about the technical side of tattooing and how interesting it can be.
Ink Master, which is the first tattoo competition show, features a group of tattoo artists from around the world as they compete in numerous tattoo challenges for the prize of $100,000. The show first premiered January 7, 2012 and has been on ever since. Some of the challenges included tattooing over scars, realism tattoos, head tattoos, and many more. The craziest part about the show to me was the fact that the artists execute these challenges on real people. It takes someone really brave to get a tattoo on a reality show, and half of the time the people aren’t happy with it. The tattoos are judged by three famous artist: Oliver Peck, Chris Nunez, and Dave Narravo. Each week, there’s a top two and bottom two artists, and one person is sent home.
This is a reality show, so there is some drama and fights that happen on the show, which makes for interesting television. However, this show is a great way for tattoo artists to gain more experience and exposure. Because of the show, I have found a couple of artists in the Dallas area that I would be interested in getting ink from.
