Cold Fronts and Rain Disrupt Student Routines
Since last week, the temperature in Texas has dropped significantly with the strong cold front that moved in, dropping temperatures into the low 40s and bringing an increase in rain.
According to Dallas News NBC 5 forecast, this October is already the second wettest month this year, with September being the first wettest. This October has had the most amount of rain during the month of October since 1981.
The rainy weather is definitely affecting many students at Lakeview, and it creates an inconvenience to daily routines. This rain and cold weather forces students to either wait in the rain for their buses and before school or to find other ways to get to school.
“I have to get my parents to drop me off because the buses get here too early, and I have to wait outside, ” junior Shelby Locke said. “It’s harder to stay after school because my parents don’t want to risk driving in the rain.”
The cold fronts are also affecting students who practice outdoors before and after school.
“Practicing in the rain is really risky because you have to make sure you don’t slip while holding a heavy instrument,” junior band member Joshua Benavides said.
