Catch Up on the Marvel Universe before Infinity War
On April 27, the last ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) came to a close in what has said to be “the most ambitious crossover.” Most of the Marvel heroes, not counting Hawkeye, that has ever had the pleasure to grace our world’s screens will appear in the Marvel studios production of “Avengers: Infinity War.”
“Avengers: Infinity War” is the third film in the Avengers series, following after “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and the original “Avengers” film. Unlike its predecessors, Infinity War will combine the disbanded Avengers team with other superheroes like: Peter Parker (Spiderman), T’Challa (Black Panther), and the “Guardians of the Galaxy” team. Along so, Infinity War draws in the characters from all the previous Marvel films with the connection of the Infinity Stones. The Infinity Stones are the central objects of the MCU franchise and have driven the plot of the films for the last decade.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe began its journey to the Infinity War with the 2008 film, “Iron Man.”; from then on, by release date, it was: “The Incredible Hulk” (2008), “Iron Man 2” (2010), “Thor” (2011), “Captain America: The First Avenger” (2011), “The Avengers: (2012), “Iron Man 3” (2013), “Thor: The Dark World” (2013), “Captain America: Winter Soldier” (2014), “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015), “Ant-Man” (2015), “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), “Doctor Strange” (2016), “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017), “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), “Thor: Ragnarok” (2017), and most recently, “Black Panther” (2018).
The above order is listed by the films original release dates, but there is a historical sequence that the films can be viewed in and would probably be more understandable story wise, unless you are the type who has to watch the movies in order of release.
Captain America: The First Avenger
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
The Incredible Hulk
Thor
The Avengers

18 films later and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is caught up to the “Avengers: Infinity War”, which not many know what it’s about, besides its writers. The true turnout of the film is a mystery, even the actors (who were given fake scripts and even shot scenes that would not appear in the final production) know a very minimal amount about the real premise of the film. All that is known until the international premier is a film synopsis released by its producers, Marvel Studios, and the distribution company, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
Stated in the official film synopsis, “Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet – the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment”.
As of April 23, “Avengers: Infinity War” held its world premiere in Los Angeles. Reviews from critics came rolling in and from the very minimal parts that I’ve read, they seem to be raving and glowing with positivity. “Infinity War” premiered on April 27, and unless you’re seeing it this weekend, take the the time to stay off social media and catch up on the past ten years of Marvel.
