President-Elect Trump: An Opinion

Tragedy has befallen America as Donald Trump is granted his unjust position as President of the United States of America. These next four years will truly be the worst that have yet to come. Donald Trump has no political background and is highly unqualified for this great of a task. This misogynistic, homophobic, islamophobic, KKK-endorsed, racist, and rapist crusty dorito of a person has no place in one of America’s highest seats of power. Leading up to the election, Donald Trump was not even in charge of his own Twitter profile, and yet we placed this man in charge of a country. Now, ask yourself: does that seem like that was the smartest idea?
Trump has been accused of sexual assault by 15 women since the early 1980s. These women finally decided to speak out against the new president-elect after the announcement of his upcoming rape trial in December involving a 13-year-old girl. However, Trump supporters believe this to be fake in an attempt to sway the election. “This is basically a sham lawsuit brought by someone who desires to impact the presidential election,” one of Trump’s lawyers said in a Guardian interview, even though he has no real evidence to prove it.
But Trump’s perversion is not only limited to sexual assault. According to the Washington Post, there are multiple accounts of Trump peering into dressing rooms and looking at girls ranging in age from 14 to 19 in a questionable way during the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant. Although he did not directly touch, abuse, or force these women to do anything, unlike other instances held against Trump, he did knowingly walk into the girls’ dressing room and watch them change, making them extremely uncomfortable.
If you haven’t heard yet, an interview with Trump and Bush back in 2005 recorded Mr. Trump and Billy Bush both said that women allow them to do anything if you’re a star. “Grab them by the p—y,” Trump says. “You can do anything.” This infamous quote was directly from Trump himself, in which he released a rehearsed and unsatisfactory apology early this year in light of the 2016 Presidential election.
While Donald Trump may have become president, we still need to reveal how much of a horrible man his vice president is, Mike Pence. Pence, for one, is arguably the antagonist for the entire LGBTQ+ community. Pence believes in defunding research for an HIV/AIDS cure to help fund camps where LGBTQ+ children go to “conversion therapy…a controversial practice that seeks to change a person’s sexual orientation from gay to straight,” according to the Washington Post.
This method is terrifying and borderline unconstitutional. Conversion therapy breaks down the child’s will to live and teaches them to hate themselves for who they are. 67% of them commit suicide during this phase of treatment. Phase two teaches them how to undergo their proper and societal gender roles/stereotypes. A program where two-thirds of them die within 4 weeks of starting hardly seems appropriate for modern America and seems more like 1940’s Germany. If you don’t understand that, search up Auschwitz.
The upsetting part in this election is not the actual president. It is the fear and racism still prevalent in America today. We have not progressed as a society. Institutionalized racism, sexism, and religious intolerance are still fueling a majority of the American population. These rage and hate-filled people are not the future of America and their perspectives should not be taught. Times are changing and we need to keep moving forward. Electing Donald Trump has now set us 60 years back in societal progression. You did this America. You sent us back to the 1950’s. How’s that for a Decades Day LC?
Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate, was ultimately and wholeheartedly the better of the two. A woman who respects the disrespected and a fighter for equal rights for everyone lost to a spray-tanned teletubby and we have four years of terror, hate-crimes, and depression ahead.
Donald Trump and his team should strike fear into the hearts of every LGBT individual, woman, person-of-color, and non-Christian. He is the new president, and his people are scared of him. Fear our new president, for he and his team are the worst people in America.
