FAFSA Fun Night
On October 2, the FAFSA Fun Nights kicked off in the library and the computer lab. These nights are set up to help students and parents complete and submit their FAFSA /TAFSA forms. The fun nights will be held every Tuesday throughout the month of October.
“It was fun, in a way, because I was able to get information to get help for college aid,” Anna Lara, parent of a senior at LC, said.
Senior Andrea Castillo said she would recommend the FAFSA fun night to other students.
“I definitely recommend it because the people here are amazing,” she said. “[The counselors] even walk around to help with your issues.”
History teacher Alexes Terry hopes to reach out to a hundred percent of students through the fun nights and enable students to have a better opportunity to go to college.
“Career readiness days and FAFSA fun nights all make college and career readiness easy and accessible to students despite grades and their social economic background,” Terry said. “It gives a space for parents and students to get guidance and resources over how to complete the FAFSA or to complete the TAFSA.”
Although the FAFSA’s deadline is not extremely close, Terry encourages seniors and parents to get it done as soon as possible.
“It’s never too late to complete the FAFSA,” she said. “However, the earliest you complete the FAFSA, the more money there is out for you to receive towards your college education.”
