LC DECA breaks a record
LC DECA students competed at the Texas DECA District 11 Career Development Conference at North Garland last Saturday, setting the record at 23 district champion medals.
“Once I heard my name being called to get my medal, it was a huge exhilarating rush that ran through my body,” senior Khari Jones said. “It was just amazing.”
District winners will compete at the Texas State Career Conference in Dallas February 20 and 22 at the Downtown Sheraton. However, state winners will fly to Atlanta for the DECA International Career Development Conference.
“[Going to state] feels great, but it’s still a competition so I can’t get too comfortable,” senior Tim Gove said. “I still have to prepare for state, so I can move onto the international competition.”
This is my third year on staff, and my second year as editor-in-chief. I love to cook, and I love writing!

Congratulations. I am proud of the LC DECA team for their stellar performance. I wish you good results in the state finals so that you continue on to Atlanta. So however you prepare, remember “Good, better, best; never let it rest until your good is your better and your better is your BEST!

It is so wonderful to see LC DECA holding this record! So proud of all members who were able to participate. DECA is an amazing opportunity for young adults to grow and evolve in preparation for the business world. Special shout out to my daughter Khari Jones for putting so much effort into the LC DECA organization and fulfilling her duties as an officer, Vice President of Marketing. Also big thanks to Mr. Flemming for preparing all his students not only for competitions, but for the real world. Congratulations and good luck at State!!
