Jump into the Jungle!
Schools from all across GISD are coming to watch Lakeview’s theatre department perform the classic Disney musical “The Jungle Book.” Lakeview has been practicing this play since the first month of school.
“The [extra] time definitely gives our actors more time for characterization,” senior stage manager Tristen Wheeler said.
After their daytime performance for Schrade Middle School on Thursday, they had “talk-backs,” where all the students could ask each other questions about performance style and technique.
“It was a great experience for us and them,” junior Corinthia Townsend, who played Mowgli, said.
They performed their first nighttime performance Thursday evening. Both actors and audience members said that they thought the play went very smoothly.
“The actors had a lot of energy, and the audience really helped with [the energy] too,” Wheeler said.
Did you miss seeing the show on Thursday night? Have no fear! There will be two more nighttime performances: Friday, November 3, and Saturday, November 4. Tickets for students are $3 and adults are $5.
“Don’t be scared to come,” Townsend said. “It’s a good show!”
