Dress Out for Homecoming Week
Homecoming week (September 18, 2017 – September 22, 2017) is a special five days for students, because of the opportunity to wear something students usually wouldn’t bother wearing on a regular basis. However, students must remember to dress within the Garland Independent School District dress code compliance.
Monday, is the first day of homecoming week. The theme of the day is Mathletes vs. Athletes. Whether it’s knee high socks, and big nerdy glasses, or athletic wear, it is their choice.
Tuesday, is the second day of homecoming week, where students were allowed to show their Texas Pride; whether it’s wearing cowboy boots with spurs, denim pants with a flannel, or a cowboy or cowgirl hat.
“I made sure to out dress out for Texas Pride for sure,” freshman Tydrick Sanders said. “I mean this is where I grew up, so why not?”
Wednesday, students were able to travel back in time to any decade on Way Back Wednesday. Students that are big fans of any decade, 90s, 80s, or 70s, there was an option to dress up in old school clothing for this day.
Thursday, is a day where students can dress up as their favorite character from a cinema, character from a novel or comic, or a popular social media meme, along as the costume is school appropriate.
Friday, is the final day of homecoming week. Students are encouraged to show off LCHS spirit by wearing a royal blue shirt on Code Blue day for the first pep rally of the school year.
“I do enjoy seeing everybody else dress out over those five days, showing school spirit. It’s fun to watch.” junior Cymore Richardson said.
I'm a junior at Lakeview Centennial High school and this is my first year on the newspaper and yearbook staff.
