Cabaret Show
Lakeview’s theatre production class presented a musical cabaret show for their semester final exam. The class has been learning and rehearsing musical numbers since January in preparation for their show. They performed six shows, both in class and after school.
“[My favorite song to be a part of was] definitely Beautiful. I was born to be Heather Chandler,” senior Camille Johnson said.
The show came out to be around an hour and a half long. There were 14 songs total which was a mix of solos and group numbers.
“Making my last show here a mix of all my favorite musicals was a pretty awesome time,” senior Julissa Hernandez said.
The theatre production class is the highest level of theater class you can be enrolled in at Lakeview. Ms. Newsum invited other classes into to watch the class performances.
“Some [of the audiences’ reactions were] good, [but] some [audience members] were very rude about it,” junior Tristen Wheeler said.
For the seniors enrolled in the class, it was their last show of their high school career.
“Being able to spend my last show with all the people who I have spent my ‘theatre years’ with makes it all worth it,” Hernandez said. “I can’t think of performing with anyone else.”
The last show was filled with emotional students as graduation inches closer. The underclassmen don’t want their senior friends to leave and seniors don’t want to leave them.
“My favorite part [about performing the show] is being backstage with all the people I love and performing with them as well,” Wheeler said.
