Jones Goes to Haiti
One of our very own teachers will be making a special trip this December. Mrs. Lauren Jones, will be traveling to Haiti with an organization called Second Chance Haiti. Second Chance Haiti is operated under a non-profit organization named Second Chance Global that provides a “second chance” to the children of the Bon Samaritan Orphanage in Haiti.
After the tragic hurricane that recently happened in Haiti, Jones felt like she had to do something.
“I have a heaviness on me for what others in the world are going through,” Jones said. “Things we think are big deals here would be nothing in a third world country.”
She reached out to her followers on Facebook and was contacted by one of her friends who so happened to be going to Haiti with the Second Chance Global organization.
“It kind of just fell into my lap,” Jones said.
Jones’s faith was also another big reason for her wanting to be apart of the trip.
“I wanna go over there and share the love of Jesus with and give them hope.”
Jones first priority while in Haiti is helping out in the orphanage.
“I wanna love on the kiddos that don’t have a mom or dad,” Jones said. “I’ve been given so much, I wanna give back to others.”
To plan for her trip she will be bringing 2 big suitcases full of toys and little kids clothing her mother makes to give to the children at the orphanage. Jones also wants the support of our students. Students can help by donating items and buying t-shirts to raise money for the Haitians in need.
“I wanna go over there because I’ve been given so much. I wanna love on them and bring them a little hope,” Jones said.
