CCC College Fair
GISD hosted their annual College Fair on September 20th at the Curtis Culwell Center for all GISD students to attend and discover colleges. Over 120 colleges from all across the US came to set up booths and talk about their school to future college students.
Many Lakeview students attended the event in hopes to find the start to their new beginning next year.
“I didn’t find any new colleges that I’m interested in, but I already have my top 4 chosen,” senior Devri Beckett said.
Other students, unlike Devri, found a few colleges they weren’t expecting to look at.
“I found UT Austin and Baylor,” senior Brianna Oduze said. “Their nursing programs are great!”
College fairs where 120 universities and thousands of students and parents attend can leave some anxiety due to thought of the future.
“There were way too many people there,” Oduze said.
The application process has already begun for universities and colleges. Early application usually begins in May for students who want to apply for early admission.
“I’ve applied to a few different places so far,” Beckett said.
Colleges such as A&M and OBU have already started sending out acceptance emails and letters.
“I’ve applied to SMU and Baylor,” Oduze said.
Lakeview students are already getting accepted into colleges and planning their futures, all thanks to the help of the representatives from the College Fair.
“It’s intimidating,” Beckett said. ”It’s as though your future is in the hands of these people.”
