1:1 Ready iPads
As the school prepares for the new 1:1 Ready iPads, the students are becoming more excited about them. iPads will be issued to every student who has completed all their paperwork and is ready for the technological shift. Yet, there are still worries that this was a good decision for the district and budget.
Students are beginning to voice their concerns about whether or not providing each and every student in GISD with a $600+ device is a good idea.
“If the device were to be broken, many families couldn’t afford the repair cost,” junior Maricela Ramirez said. “Also, some students could mess with the device and do things that aren’t related to school purposes.”
Some students are saying the money should have been used to either improve the campuses, classrooms, or equipment used in them.
“I think there are definitely other areas at Lakeview that would’ve benefited from the bond money,” sophomore Nicolas Dominguez-Carerro said. “I’m sure the various departments at Lakeview could’ve used the money.”
