Eco-Friendly is a term used to describe life as cleaner, healthier, and safer for the environment. People associated with this often get serious and always get down and dirty, even at our very own school. They do everything in their might to alter the way students live their life at school.
Some have heard the term but don’t really know exactly what being Eco-friendly means. It simply means services that consider inflicting minimal or no harm on the environment. Also to make consumers aware, environmentally friendly goods and services often are marked with eco-labels such as cleaning products, certain clothing and hair products. The majority of these products have a green logo or a little information patch that says it’s biodegradable.
For junior, Lyndsay Adams, who is involved with Earth United (an organization at school that supports eco-friendly products and events) decided to be greener when her and her aunt saw a website about being Eco-Friendly.
“I just want to make the world more livable and to let people know about our planet,” Adams said.
Adams is involved in Earth United at school with sponsors Mr. Bunch and Mrs. McKinzie among plans to start fundraisers, outdoor events and of course spread the word about eco-friendliness. Adams also has plans to have a meeting with representatives of UNT to discuss the involvement of the club. She wants to incorporate people outside of Lakeview to be involved also.
Ask yourself what you could do to help. Simply the subtle things can help. Use biodegradable cups and plates, hairspray that doesn’t contain CFCs (chlorofluorocarbon that obliterate the ozone layer), organically-grown cotton towels, bath mats and bathrobes made with natural plant dyes, recycled stationery and print paper, and everything that would prevent the world of anymore harm.
Being Eco-Friendly isn’t just something to do that’s fun or a fad. It’s vital to keep the world from literally being a garbage can. Experts say that approximately 220 million tons of garbage each year is produced by Americans alone. Recycling can cut down a portion of that quantity.
With tips and facts about being eco-friendly hopefully the world will be more clean and inhabitable. This planet can only take so much. The world should be taken more seriously.
