Saying Goodbye to 2016

As we dive into the new year head first, we can’t help but look over our shoulder and remember our most memorable, happy, and sad moments as we say a bittersweet goodbye to yet another great year. I can honestly say that I have had countless mixed emotions in the past year about the groundbreaking election, the loss of many beloved icons, and the scary clown hoax. There are so many things to write about so I’m sure I will forget about something.

First, let’s talk about Hillary and Trump. They both have their major flaws and it was really difficult for so many Americans to choose who they would vote for, and so some choose just to not vote on election day. Now we all know that Trump won, but we have to suck it up and put your feelings about him behind you, because he is going to officially be our president and leader on January 20, and that’s only a few weeks away.

We lost our beloved Prince, our Princess Leia aka Carrie Fisher, her mother Debbie Reynolds, John Glenn (first person to orbit earth), golfing legend Arnold Palmer, Gene Wilder our Willy Wonka, Anton Yelchin from Star Trek, Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe, the greatest Muhammad Ali, Former First lady Nancy Reagan, Alan Rickman our Professor, and singer David Bowie. So many of them taken too soon from us, but they live on through our memory.

Pokemon Go got everyone out of their houses, at least for a little while, but it was a crazy addicting game. The Olympics were awesome and we are so proud of Simone Biles and Michael Phelps for their record breaking performances in representing the US.

It’s been a roller coaster of a year, but we pulled through together. Its finally time to move on and don’t look back again because it’s a NEW YEAR! and it’s filled with anticipation and new experiences that we will love together.

HAPPY NEW YEARS from LCHS newspaper staff!
